One of the keynote presentations was given by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.researchgate.net\/profile\/Henryk-Barthel\/11\">Prof. Henryk Barthel<\/a> from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uniklinikum-leipzig.de\/einrichtungen\/nuklearmedizin\">University Hospital Leipzig<\/a> with the title: &#8220;<strong>Is there a future for the new brain dedicated PET systems?<\/strong>&#8220;. He explained that the need for dedicated brain PET devices will dramatically increase as soon as disease-modifying therapies or disease-preventing drugs for Alzheimer&#8217;s Disease (AD) become available. He outlined two\u00a0 &#8220;business case&#8221; scenarios considering AD and Parkinson&#8217;s Disease and concluded that several thousand dedicated brain PET scanners &#8211; which are smaller and less expensive compared to conventional full-body PET scanners &#8211; will be needed to adequately scan patients in Europe.
