Dr. Jannis Fischer

Founder & CEO

Jannis studied physics at FU and HU Berlin with exchanges to ETH Zurich, University of California Los Angeles, and CERN. During his PhD at ETH Zurich, he worked on the development of SAFIR, a small animal PET system with unprecedented temporal resolution. BPET (a SAFIR spin-off) started in 2017 with the grant of an ETH Pioneer Fellowship to Max and Jannis. Since then other awards have followed, e.g. VentureKick and Forbes Europe 30 under 30.

Dr. Max Ahnen

Founder & COO

After studying physics at the TU Munich, the Max Planck Institute for Physics, and Durham University, Max became a PhD student on gamma-ray Cherenkov telescopes at the ETH Zurich Institute for Particle Physics. Upon finishing his PhD, Max, together with Jannis, was awarded the 2017 ETH Pioneer Fellowship for the Brain PET Project. VentureKick and Forbes Europe 30 under 30 followed.

Dr. Ilaria Sacco

Chief Technology Officer

Ilaria brings a decade of experience in designing electronics hardware and sensors readout circuits for medical imaging instrumentation, robotics surgical devices and particle detectors. She studied Aerospace Engineering in at the University of Pisa. During her PhD at Heidelberg University she contributed to the microelectronics development of the PETA6-microchip for application in Positron Emission Tomography. PETA6 demonstrated unprecedented performance, in particular in TOF. Ilaria continued her career in electronics systems and PET systems development with stations at Stanford University  and in different companies. Illaria joined our team in April 2022 and is our Chief Technology Officer.

Dr. Stefan Bircher

Chief Commercial Officer

Stefan received his PhD in Human Movement Sciences and Physiology. He brings 20+ years’ experience with companies specialized in robotics and healthcare technologies in the areas of product management, general management and sales & marketing with focus of go-to-market activities for international operations. Stefan joined our team in June of 2021 and is our Chief Commercial Officer.

Ron Lissak

Executive Vice President & General Manager Positrigo Inc.

Ron is dedicated to patient care and committed to research and excellence in clinical operations in the field of outpatient services including radiology, metabolic imaging, cardiology and oncology. He is experienced in reimbursement, research programs and clinical development of current technologies. In the past he guided the transition from entrepreneurial environment to formalized corporate structure. Since October 2023 he is responsible for our US operation.

Dr. Ekaterina Mikhaylova

Imaging Lead

Ekaterina earned her Ph.D. in Physics with an emphasis on Medical Imaging from the Institute for High Energy Physics of Barcelona in Spain. After finishing the doctoral studies Ekaterina joined the MEDISIP group at University of Ghent as a postdoctoral researcher. From 2016 to 2019 she continued her career in the field of Medical Imaging at the University of California, Davis. In 2020 Ekaterina joined Positrigo as a Nuclear Medical Imaging Research Lead.

Fynn von Kistowski

Team Leader Hardware Development, Electrical Engineer

Fynn earned his MSc in electrical engineering from ETH Zurich in 2020 with focus on digital electronics and FPGA design. He is passionate about medical technology and has been working in hardware development teams of startups and companies in the fields of automated vision and active prosthetics in Zurich and Reykjavík. In 2020 Fynn joined Positrigo as a electrical engineer. In 2021, Fynn became our Team Leader Hardware Development.

Juan Manuel Streb, PDEng

Head of Software

Juan, electrical engineer and software engineer by training, completed his formal education in software technology with a PDEng from TUe (Eindhoven, NL) in 2011. While working in companies in Argentina, the Netherlands, and Switzerland he always stayed close to the hardware. He accumulated years of experience on hardware-software systems and their architecture. In 2020 Juan joined Positrigo as a software developer – detector system lead. In summer 2021, Juan became our Head of Software Development.

Alon Dolev

Senior Full-Stack SWE and SW Architect

Alon completed studying Computer Science at TU Delft and EPF Lausanne in 2014. Since then he has been working as polyglot Software Developer in various companies. Alon joined our team in the beginning of 2021 as Full Stack Software Engineer and is now Team Leader Control Systems.

Gleb Kopylov

Team Leader Industrialization

Gleb joined our team in summer 2021, after having worked for 3+ years in highly regulated areas, such as aviation, cars and vertical transportation. He got his M.Sc. in Advanced Structures and Aerospace Engineering from ETH Zurich and holds a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from Brno University of Technology. At Positrigo, Gleb is responsible for the Production and takes the role as Mechanical Engineer in the Hardware team.

Dr. Patrick Wespi

Senior Full-Stack SWE

Patrick joined our team in winter 2021 as a Software Engineer – Front End in the control systems team. He has previously worked on web platforms for wearable biosensors, and on MRI image database software for researchers. He has a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from ETH Zurich, and has studied Physics at EPFL and ETH Zürich. At Positrigo he is in charge of the development of user interfaces.

Dr. Markus Jehl

Senior Medical Imaging and Algorithm R&D Software Engineer

Markus studied Biomedical Engineering at ETH Zurich and earned his PhD in computational electrical impedance tomography from the University College London in 2016. Since then he worked in research and development of computer/stereo vision, 3D modelling, and algorithms. In December 2021 he joined Positrigo as a Software Engineer –  Tomographic Image Reconstruction.

Diego Stohrer

CARAQA Leader

Diego started in winter 2021/22 as CARAQA leader with us at Positrigo. He holds a Bachelor and Master of Science in Health Sciences from ETH Zurich and previously graduated as experienced laboratory technician at Novartis. In 2021, Diego gained first hands-on experience in regulatory affairs and quality affairs management in an internship at a medical device startup. Currently Diego further specialized in this field with in a CAS course on CARAQA at FHNW.

Dr. Marek Palka

Staff R&D Electronics Engineer

Marek has almost twenty years of experience in various fields of electronics and software development. He holds an MSc in electronics and a PhD in particle physics. He has worked and cooperated with numerous research institutes and universities in the field of digital electronics: GSI Darmstadt, University of Frankfurt, Jagiellonian University, CERN, PSI Switzerland, etc. Among others, he was responsible for setup, upgrades and research in the field of FPAG-based real-time trigger systems, development of electron beam stabilization algorithm, teaching at the university, supervising master and PhD students. He also had his own company where he developed firmware, designed and produced analog and digital electronics for a positron emission tomography J-PET. In December 2022, he joined Positrigo as a Senior Digital Hardware Engineer.

Veronika Badinska

Administrative Assistant

Veronika joined our team in January 2023, after having worked for several years within hotel industry and for various companies in office administration in Spain, London and Switzerland. She is responsible for the office administration at Positrigo.

Raphael Herklotz

Production

After finishing his apprenticeship as an Automation Technician EFZ at libs, Raphael was able to gain experience in Development & Maintenance at Dectris, where he undertook various infrastructure projects. Since the beginning of 2023, Raphael has been a part of the production team at Positrigo.

Philipp Fritz

Mechanical Engineer

Philipp is a mechanical engineer with a background in biomedical engineering, having worked before on a device to measure the electrical signals of cells and a capsule robot designed for the use in the gastrointestinal environment of the human body. He holds an MSc in mechanical engineering from ETH Zurich with a specialization on biomedical engineering and micro/nano systems. Since his start in the Winter of 2023, he has been a part of the research and development team at Positrigo.

She has previously gained 4+ years of experience as a (Senior) Quality Assurance Engineer in a global medical technology company. Elias Werner

El. Eng./Student

Elias finished his apprenticeship in Electronics EFZ from ETH Zurich in 2018. He was a key worker also for the BPET project in the group of Prof. Dissertori, with diverse tasks in firmware and electronics design and development. He continuously improved his education and was awarded the Swiss Berufsmaturität in 2020, which allowed him to start studying Electrical Engineering at ETH Zurich in the winter semester of 2020. Elias started as electrical engineer working student in 2020.

Sandro Schickli

El. Eng./Student

Sandro finished his apprenticeship in Electronics EFZ from ETH Zurich in 2016 and continued working in the engineers pool of the ETH Zurich Institute for Particle Physics until 2017 where he contributed significantly to PET detector electronics development. In 2019 he achieved the Swiss Matura. He is studying Physics at ETH Zurich since winter semester 2019 and started as electrical engineer working student in Positrigo in 2020.
