NeuroLF Becomes First Dedicated Brain PET System to Achieve EARL Accreditation

Landmark accreditation at LMU Klinikum Munich demonstrates that dedicated brain PET imaging can meet established European standards for quantitative PET imaging.

Zurich, Switzerland – October 12, 2026

Positrigo, a Swiss based company developing nuclear medical devices to advance functional brain imaging, today announced that the NeuroLF dedicated brain PET system installed at LMU Klinikum Munich has successfully received accreditation from the EANM Research Ltd. (EARL) program, making NeuroLF the first dedicated brain PET system to achieve EARL accreditation.

EARL, an initiative of the European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM), promotes harmonization and standardization of PET imaging across centers in Europe. Its accreditation programs are designed to support consistent image quality and quantitative comparability – particularly important for multicenter clinical research and longitudinal imaging studies. The accreditation was initiated and successfully completed by the Department of Nuclear Medicine at LMU Klinikum Munich, where NeuroLF is being used for clinical and research applications in neurodegenerative diseases.

An Important Step for Dedicated Brain PET

Historically, PET accreditation and harmonization frameworks have primarily been applied to conventional whole-body PET/CT systems. Achieving EARL accreditation with NeuroLF demonstrates that a dedicated brain PET system can meet established performance and harmonization requirements for quantitative PET imaging.

“This EARL accreditation is an important achievement for our team and for the broader field of dedicated brain PET imaging,” states Prof. Dr. Dr. med. Matthias Brendel, Department of Nuclear Medicine, LMU Clinic Munich. “It demonstrates that high-quality, standardized quantitative brain PET imaging can be performed with a dedicated system such as NeuroLF. This is particularly relevant as we expand the use of PET biomarkers in Alzheimer’s disease and other neurodegenerative disorders, including their application in multicenter clinical research.”

Supporting Standardized Imaging in Alzheimer’s Disease Research

The milestone comes at a time when molecular imaging is playing an increasingly important role in the diagnosis and management of Alzheimer’s disease. Amyloid and tau PET provide direct visualization of key disease pathologies and are increasingly incorporated into clinical research, patient selection and assessment pathways for disease-modifying therapies. Standardization across imaging sites is particularly important for multicenter clinical trials, where comparable quantitative PET results are essential.

“Becoming the first dedicated brain PET system to achieve EARL accreditation is another significant milestone for NeuroLF,” says Dr. Jannis Fischer, CEO and Co-Founder of Positrigo. “LMU has once again demonstrated what is possible with a dedicated brain PET system like the NeuroLF. This achievement strengthens our vision of making high-quality molecular brain imaging more accessible while maintaining the rigorous standards required for clinical research and advanced patient care.”

Building the Infrastructure for Broader Brain PET Access

NeuroLF is an ultra-compact PET system designed specifically for brain imaging. Its small footprint and dedicated design allow PET imaging to be brought closer to neurology practices and imaging centers without the infrastructure requirements typically associated with conventional whole-body PET/CT systems.

The EARL accreditation at LMU adds to the growing clinical and research adoption of NeuroLF and supports Positrigo’s strategy to establish dedicated brain PET as an important component of the evolving diagnostic infrastructure for neurodegenerative diseases.

NeuroLF is the first dedicated brain PET system to receive both FDA clearance in the United States and CE marking in Europe. The successful EARL accreditation represents another step toward broader acceptance of dedicated brain PET for standardized clinical imaging and multicenter research.

About EARL

EANM Research Ltd. (EARL) was established by the European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM) to promote high-quality quantitative nuclear medicine imaging and harmonization across imaging centers.

EARL accreditation programs provide standardized procedures for quality control, scanner performance and image reconstruction, helping ensure that quantitative PET measurements are comparable across different scanners and institutions. This harmonization is especially important for multicenter clinical trials, research collaborations and longitudinal studies in which reliable and reproducible quantitative imaging data are essential.

By providing a common framework for PET image quality and quantification, EARL supports the use of imaging biomarkers across institutions and contributes to the development of robust standards for both clinical research and patient care.
